PRODUCT AND NAUTICAL DESIGN - Nautical Design Curriculum

The professional figure of the Nautical Industrial Designer, graduating from the only Bachelor’s degree program in Nautical Design in Italy, works as a project engineer in the nautical field, and is able to understand and develop aspects of integration between product design, at different scales, and technological and production processes in technical firms in the research and development of business enterprises and nautical shipyards or in professional design studios and consulting firms.

PROGRESSION IN THE STUDIES

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: To register for the Admissions test for the Bachelor’s degree program in Industrial Design-Curriculum Nautical Design you must be in possession of a secondary school diploma or other recognized equivalent qualification obtained abroad.
After the first year in which priority is given to basic scientific and humanistic skills, the following two years, specific subjects of Nautical Industrial Design are developed, by studying issues related to composition, nautical design, construction technologies, materials and graphics for industrial products.
In the third year the student can apply the skills acquired in the course of his career by completing an internship at a major company or professional firm in the field. Lastly, the final exam consists of the design of an industrial product for yachting, under the direction of the professors and the supervisor.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The graduate in Nautical Design operates with a high level of competency demonstrating his ability to work on a team and to interpret and make operational the design choices of the team. He is able to interpret the expectations of the client mediating within the business culture.
The principal employment opportunities envisaged by the Bachelor’s degree program are professional activities relating to the various thematic areas of industrial and nautical design in public and private institutions and organizations, design companies, engineering firms, agencies and nautical and naval shipyards, artisan laboratories, publishing, advertising, event management organizations, museums and galleries.
